WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team (6-7) won its final two matches on the second day of competition at the American Volleyball Tournament. The Leopards defeated Cornell in the first match of the day and recorded a 3-0 win over Columbia in the consolation round.

The Leopards opened the day with a 3-2 win over Cornell, their fifth win of the season. Lafayette and Cornell took the match to five games, but the Leopards battled to the 3-2 win.

Four Lafayette players recorded double figures in kills, led by freshman Kayly Elmer's 17. Classmate Katrina Racibarskas was the lone Lafayette player to record a double-double, finishing with 16 kills and 15 digs. Kari Horn led both teams with 30 digs, while Megan Carter tallied a match-best 50 assists.

Lafayette then faced Columbia in the consolation round of the tournament, sweeping the Lions in a 3-0 victory to improve to 6-7 on the season. Columbia never scored more than 25 points against the Leopards.

Racibarskas added another 14 kills against Columbia to finish with 30 in both matches. Horn led the Leopards with 18 digs while Donohue added 16 to go along with her eight kills. Carter again led the team with 33 assists.

The Leopards return to action when they host Princeton on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
