DOVER, Del. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team (7-10, 0-2) wrapped-up a three-game road trip with a 3-0 defeat of Delaware State 3-0 on Wednesday ngiht. The win was the taem's seventh of the season. Three players recorded double figures in kills, led by 17 from freshman Katrina Racibarskas.
Freshman Kayly Elmer and senior Michaela Donohue were the other Lafayette players to record double-figures in kills with 13 and 11, respectively. Lafayette's Megan Carter had a match-best 37 assists and a team-best five digs on the night. The team hit for a .393 average and had 43 total assists against the Hornets. For Delaware, no single player recorded more than 13 kills in the match.
The Leopards defeated the Hornets 30-27 in the opening game of the evening. Racibarskas had five of her 17 kills in the game while Carter led both teams with 11 assists.
The second game saw Lafayette defeat Delaware by a score of 30-26. Racibarskas added seven kills in the win, while Carter chipped in 18 assists.
Donohue led the Leopards in the third and decisive match with six kills. The Hornets managed just 24 points in the game, their lowest single-game total of the night.
Elmer now leads the team in kills with 188 on the season while Carter has a team-high with 469 assists. Racibarskas has a team-best 3.12 kills-per-game average and stands just behind classmate Elmer with 187 total kills on the season. Donohue's 232 digs (3.62 dpg) also leads the Leopards.
The Leopards return home to host Patriot League rival Lehigh on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. The Lafayette volleyball team will be hosting a "Kids Night" that evening. Admission is free and there will be contests, pizza and prizes. All Leopards fans are encouraged to come out and support their team as they take on the Mountain Hawks in a key Patriot League match up.
