WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team could not overcome a strong performance by Army, dropping a 3-0 decision to the Black Knights in Patriot League play.

The Leopards dropped the three sets by 25-13, 25-18 and 25-16 scores. Sophomore Kayly Elmer led Lafayette with nine kills while classmate Katrina Racibarskas chipped in six digs. Megan Carter tallied 13 assists, marking the 20th time in 21 matches she has reached double figures in that category. Freshman Ally Taylor had a team-high three blocks, including two solo.

The Leopards scored the first point of the opening set on a Carter service ace but Army tied it at one-all and went up 2-1 and never gave up that lead, going on to the 12-point win.

The Black Knights led from start to finish in the second set. Lafayette came within five late in the match (23-18) but Army scored the final two points to secure the victory.

Army again held the lead for the entire third set, going up 9-0 early before closing out the set and the match on a kill by Rachel Willis.

Lafayette returns home next weekend for two league matches. The Leopards will welcome Bucknell on Friday for a 7 p.m. match and will also hold "Dig Pink" night that evening. On Saturday, Colgate visits Easton for a 4 p.m. match.
