LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team didn't go down without a fight, dropping a hard-fought 3-1 match to Bucknell in the season finale on Saturday in Lewisburg. Cara Mulholland and Katrina Racibarskas led the team with 13 kills apiece while Megan Carter tallied a team-best 39 assists.
Lafayette (12-18, 5-9) dropped two 25-20 decisions to open the match. Carter finished with 12 assists in the opening set while Racibarskas led Lafayette with five kills. Carter added another 11 assists in the second set.
The Leopards won a thriller in the third set, 26-24, to prevent the Bison (13-17, 8-6) from escaping with a sweep. Lafayette trailed for most of the set, including a 19-16 deficit late in the action. An attacking error by the Bison's Heidi Kamp tied the score at 19-all. It was still tied at 24 before the Leopards scored the final two points to come out with the 26-24 win and bring them within one set of tying the match.
Lafayette unfortunately could not continue the momentum and dropped a 25-16 decision in the fourth and decisive set.
Postgame Notes:
- Lafayette finishes the season with 12 wins, marking the fifth straight season of double digit wins, all under head coach Terri Dadio Campbell.
- Megan Carter finishes as Lafayette's all-time leader in assists with 3,626. That total also places her sixth all-time in the Patriot League record book.
