Senior Jessica Spicer:
On major, fall courses: "I'm an Economics & Business major. One interesting class I took was actually with Andrew (Brown) called World Music Traditions."

Sophomore LaKeisha Wright:
On major, fall courses: "I'm an Anthropology and Sociology major. Last semester I took a class called Music of West Africa."

Senior Andrew Brown:
On major, fall courses: "I'm also an Anthropology and Sociology major. Like Jes said, the World Music Traditions was a very interesting class. I also took a Theories of Society class to finish up my major."

Freshman Ryan Willen:
On major, fall courses: "I'm a Biology major. My freshman year seminar class went to New York City and we got to see a Broadway play which was pretty cool because I've never seen a real play before."

Head Coach Tammy Smith:
On Holy Cross game: "The Holy Cross game we were obviously very disappointed in the outcome of that. I don't know if that break we had for the week hurt us or not. We had five games in nine days and I thought that week off would be a good break for us. I know it was good for us coaches because we got away from it and I'm sure the kids did, too, and we needed that, but that might have had something to do with our poor shooting. We learned from that and maybe next year we won't have such a long break. We had a great game against Princeton. We spotted them 22 points which I told these guys at halftime against Holy Cross, we can't spot teams 20 points anymore. We've got to come out and play right from the get go. We have to let that (Holy Cross) game go. We learned from it, we saw some things we need to do. It's real important--teams are going to zone us. No one wants to play man against us and these kids are now understanding that, and we have to be able to stick shots from the perimeter. We also have to attack the gaps which we were getting better at. We have to be real confident in playing against zones, which I'm sure Colgate will be playing. We have to get better at that and continue to play our defensive game."

On Colgate and Navy: "I think there's a lot of parity in the conference like there was last year. Colgate's going to be a tough game for us. They're a real tough match up, especially up there. They like to attack off the dribble, they got some big kids in. We have to do the things we do best. We look at a lot of film on teams and Coach Wedo does a great job of breaking down the film on these teams. Everyone is beatable. If we come out and play for 40 minutes we can beat anybody in the conference just like anybody can beat anyone else. We scheduled a lot of real tough teams in the non-conference to prepare for the Patriot League and we're hoping now that we got past that first game that we can move on and pick up the pieces and continue to build and get better."

Head Coach Fran O'Hanlon
On recent games, Holy Cross: "We started our season up at Holy Cross which is always a very difficult place to play and the game right before that was Penn which in the history of Lafayette has always been a very difficult place to play. I guess two things have been working against us recently: rebounding and taking care of the basketball. When we do a good job with rebounding and do a good job taking care of the basketball then we're a very difficult team. We started out with two very big wins after the break--against Towson and against Princeton, two very good teams. Then we played Mount St. Mary's who was the preseason favorite tow in their league, and Penn who is a terrific team and Holy Cross who is a very good team. I like where our team is going. I think we're getting better. We just have to continue to improve through this first half as the league starts. A big part for us is taking care of our home court and I think that's for the whole league. Whichever team takes care of their home court and then gets a steal or two on the road ought to be in pretty good shape come playoff time so it's going to start on Wednesday against Colgate. Colgate is one of 22 teams that have had five road wins this year and if they win on Wednesday will be one of seven teams that have six road wins. They're a very good team and they play very good defense, they execute well, so we're going to have to be ready for this."
