WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's soccer team gave defending Patriot League champion Army all it could handle and more on Saturday night before falling in overtime to the Black Knights 1-0. Freshman Lauren Smedley tallied 10 saves for the Leopards.

Following a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation, Army freshman Caroline Rice scored on a goal from 12 yards out off an assist from Elizabeth Betterbed.

The goal gave Army the victory and improves the Black Knights to 6-8-2 on the year while the Leopards fall to 3-10-2.

Sophomore midfielder Dana Moyer paced Lafayette with four shots with junior Katie Roberts recording two shots on the evening.

Four of Smedley's saves came in the opening 45 minutes of play before she was just as stellar in the second half, notching six saves.

Lafayette forced three corner kicks in the Army defensive end.

The Leopards will look to regroup and prepare for a pair of home matches at home next weekend beginning with American on Friday night. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. at Mike Bourger'44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
