WORCESTER, Mass. - The Lafayette women's soccer team couldn't find a way to the back of the net against Patriot League opponent Holy Cross Saturday afternoon as the Leopards and Crusaders played a 110 minute 0-0 double overtime draw. Lafayette moves to 6-5-1 (0-0-1) for the year while Holy Cross moves to 3-4-2 (0-0-1) overall.
The game was evenly matched through the first 90 minutes of play, as Lafayette got off 11 shots to Holy Crosses 12.
The defensive battle continued in to overtime, with the Leopards recording four shots to the Crusaders' two. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Smedley picked up her sixth shutout of the season and her 10th of her career, moving her to the top spot in Lafayette for career shutouts. The Crusaders keeper, Mary Ferketic, picked up four saves during regulation.
Katie Roberts and Olivia Hawes both got off three shots each, both one-on-goal while six other Leopards took shots to give Lafayette 15 over the 110 minutes.
The Leopards are back in Patriot League action on Oct. 8 as Lafayette hosts Bucknell at Oaks Stadium.
