Box Score

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's soccer team picked up a point in the Patriot League standings on Saturday night, playing visiting Army to a 1-1 draw at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium. Senior Justin Kamine scored the equalizer for the Leopards, and senior Andrew Pianko made three saves to preserve the deadlock.

The Leopards now stand at 1-3-1 in the Patriot League with a 6-6-3 record overall. The Black Knights move to 1-11-1 and pick up their first league point at 0-4-1.

Kamine's tally came in the 75th minute. The Lafayette defender fired a shot from just inside the box, which was blocked by an Army player. The carom went right back to Kamine, however, and his second attempt found the back of the net to knot the score at 1-1.

The goal was the third of the season for Kamine, who also has a game-winning score to his credit in 2010.

After a scoreless first period, Army opened the scoring in the 70th minute. T.J. Rowe beat a Lafayette defender, leaving nothing but open space between him and Pianko. Rowe blasted the ball into the far corner of the net to give the Black Knights the initial 1-0 lead.

Pianko's three saves came in addition to a number of strong challenges. The goalkeeper also got in on the offensive action late in the final overtime, sprinting all the way to the other end of the field to vie for a Lafayette corner kick.

Army netminder Ryan Currens made three saves, including a diving stab to save what appeared to be a sure goal for senior B.J. Glenn. Currens also made a lunging effort to stop a potential own-goal in overtime.

Lafayette will be back in action one week from today, as defending Patriot League champion Bucknell visits Easton for a 3 p.m. contest.
