HAMILTON, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Kayly Elmer neared her sixth double-double of the season with eight kills and nine digs, but the Lafayette volleyball team was tripped up in straight sets on Friday night at Colgate. The host Raiders took the match by set scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-16.
With the loss, the Leopards fall to 4-21 overall with an 0-11 Patriot League mark. Colgate improves to 14-11 on the season and 7-4 in league play.
Elmer's eight kills led the Lafayette offense, followed by seven finishers from freshman Karissa Ciliento. Senior co-captain Katrina Racibarskas and junior Alana Taylor each had three kills, sophomore Sarah Frohnapfel had two and a trio of Leopards - Alexandra Russo, Andrea Duvall and Molly Belcher - added one kill apiece. Belcher also ran the offense and distributed 16 assists.
Defensively, freshman libero Mackenzie Larsen had a team-best 10 digs. Taylor added a solo block at the net with Racibarskas and Elmer teaming up for Lafayette's other rejection in the match.
Colgate's Casey Ritt led all players with 10 kills, hitting .643 in the contest. Kaylee Fifer dished out a match-best 17 assists, with Blaire Safir also doling out 10. Logan Keala led the Raiders' defense with 13 digs.
Lafayette is back in action tomorrow evening, returning to Pennsylvania for a showdown at Bucknell. First serve from Lewisburg is slated for 5 p.m.
