EASTON, Pa. - Following season-opening wins over Fairfield and Binghamton, the Lafayette men's lacrosse team is ranked #20 in the latest USILA Coaches national poll.
The recognition is the first time in Lafayette men's lacrosse history to receive a national ranking.
However, head coach Terry Mangan says the team's attention is on a very talented Penn team in Wednesday night's home-opener.
"It's a nice recognition for our program, but right now we're just focused on playing a very good Penn squad. It's another uphill battle and great test for us."
Penn comes into the game with an 0-1 record after giving No. 8 Duke all it could handle on Sunday afternoon. The Quakers led 9-8 deep into the third quarter before the Devils came back to grab a 16-11 victory.
The Leopards are 2-0 for the first time since 1997 after wins over Fairfield (15-10) and Binghamton (12-9).
Lafayette takes on Penn Wednesday night at Rappolt Field. Face-off is set for 7 p.m.
