EASTON, Pa. - Following a mid-week win over Penn and Saturday afternoon victory over Wagner, the Lafayette men's lacrosse team has moved up in the USILA Coaches Poll and cracked the top-20 of the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.
The Leopards moved up five spots to No. 15 in the USILA Coaches poll and slid into No. 19 in the latest Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll, the first time the school has been recognized in the national media rankings.
Lafayette is 4-0 for the first time in school history. The Leopards are currently first in the nation in assists per game, averaging over 10 per contest. Junior Stefan Bauer is ranked third in the nation with over three assists each game.
The Patriot League boasts three teams in the top-20, with No. 16/19 Bucknell and No. 13/17 Navy.
Lafayette defeated Penn 14-9 on Wednesday night behind seven goals from junior Tom Perini. The Leopards then controlled the entire 60 minutes against Wagner on Saturday afternoon. Bauer paced Lafayette with five goals.
Lafayette is currently preparing for a much-anticipated showdown with No. 13/17 Navy on Friday evening at Rappolt Field. Navy defeated Bucknell on Saturday afternoon 8-7 in overtime.
