Hawks Fly Away with Wins

EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette softball team dropped both games to archrival Lehigh at Metzgar Athletic Fields on Sunday afternoon. The Leopards hit a home in both games but fell 5-2 in the first game and 12-1 in the second.

Lehigh's defense controlled the majority of the first game scoring three runs in the first inning. Jen Colquhoun hit a homer to left field and brought Alex Cueva home with her.

Liz Lucas followed with a home run of her own and the Mountain Hawks took a 3-0 lead.

After another two Lehigh runs Lafayette finally got on the board. In the final inning the Leopards scored off a Stacey Dorn home run and brought Stacey Kushner home.

Kasey Karr pitched the entire game giving up five hits, five runs and three strike outs.

In the second game, Lehigh scored eight runs in the third inning. The Leopards lone run came in the four inning when Kushner homered to left field and came around for the score.

The Mountain Hawks scored another four runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game, 12-1.

In the loss, Ali Henry pitched 2.1 innings giving up five runs while relief pitcher threw for 1.2 innings giving up seven runs and striking out one batter.

The Leopards return to action when they travel to Drexel University to take on St. Joseph's at 3 p.m.
