Falls to St. Joe's in Weekday Game

WARMINSTER, Pa. - The Lafayette softball team hit the road to take on St. Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks were able to score early and hold the Leopards to one run and pick up a 4-1 win against the Maroon and White.

St. Joe's (19-14) score its first run in the opening inning as Brooke Darreff singled to left field and brought home Dana Parks for the 1-0 lead over the Leopards.

The Hawks knocked off another three runs in the fourth inning. Rochelle Christman double to center field and picked up an RBI and scored herself on the next play. Alaina Loguidice singled to center field and brought Deanna Stinner around to home plate.

In the seventh inning Lafayette's (13-27, 2-10) Stacey Kushner got the Leopards first hit of the game off a double to center field. Kerry Griffin got up to bat and reached on a fielder's choice as Kushner came around and scored on an error by the Hawks shortstop Christman.

Ali Henry pitched six innings in the loss with five hits and two strike outs while St. Joe's pitcher Erin Gallagher pitched seven innings striking out five Leopards and giving up one run.

Lafayette gets back into Patriot League action this weekend when the Leopards travel to Holy Cross for a weekend of doubleheaders. Both games start at noon.
