EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette split its first games of the four-game series against Patriot League opponent Colgate on Saturday at Metzgar Fields. The Raiders picked up a 9-0 win in the first game while the Leopards picked up a 1-0 win in the second.
The Leopards (15-31, 4-14) were only able to get off three hits against Colgate in a 9-0 loss in six innings.
The Raiders knocked off three runs in the third inning, Melissa Babb-Renta singled to bring home Natalie Siedhof. Alana Dyson and Babb-Renta both scored off a Stephanie Hartquist double to center field.
The final six runs for Colgate (23-19, 6-10) all came in the sixth inning; Kasey Karr pitched all seven innings in the loss, despite getting hit by a ball early in the game. Karr gave up 10 hits on nine runs and struck out four batters.
It took six innings for anything to happen and Stacey Kushner hit her ninth home run, which just made it fair on the left line, to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead.
Allowing two hits and striking out three batters, Ali Henry picked up her second win of the season.
Lafayette closes out the 2010 season tomorrow against Colgate starting at noon. At the beginning of the game the three Lafayette seniors will be recognized.
