EASTON, Pa. - Steve Serling '10 has been named to the 2010 All-America list by the USILA.
Serling was named to the honorable mention list on Thursday morning, becoming the first Leopard men's lacrosse player to earn All-American status since 1931.
In 2010, Serling tallied 37 goals and 12 assists, totaling a team-leading 49 points. He was named to the 2010 Offensive Player of the Year and All-Patriot League First-Team in April.
After missing the 2009 season due to injury, Serling returned with eight points (five goals and three assists) in Lafayette's season-opening win vs. Fairfield, earning himself Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
He went on to earn the honor again on April 13, after guiding Lafayette to wins over Marist (two goals) and Holy Cross (five goals).
Head coach Terry Mangan echoed his thoughts on Serling's accomplishments this season. "Steve had a tremendous year and is most-deserving of this honor," Mangan said. "I speak for our other coaches and his teammates when I say how very proud we are of him."
Serling was instrumental in the Leopards' success in 2010, leading the squad as a co-captain to its first-ever Patriot League Tournament berth. Lafayette held a national ranking for eight consecutive weeks and defeated its first two nationally-ranked opponents (Navy and Bucknell) in school history.
