EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's soccer team improved their record to 5-5-0 for the season after a 1-0 victory over St. Peter's on Sunday afternoon at Oaks Stadium.Lafayette players and coaches wore pink in today's game to show their support and awareness for breast cancer.
Thirty-six minutes into the game St. Peter's (2-6-0) drew a foul on the Leopards to set up a penalty kick, sophomore Lauren Smedley was there for the save to keep a scoreless first half.
In the 51st minute of the game Mackenzie Moore picked up the rebound shot off the post and fed it to senior midfielder Olivia Hawes scored into an empty net.
Lafayette just edged out St. Peter's in shots, 9-8 while the Leopards also made five saves to the Peahen's two. The shutout moved Smedley into second all-time in the Lafayette record books for career shutouts.
The Leopards close out their non-conference play on Tuesday at Delaware State for a 7 p.m. start.
