WORCESTER, Mass. -Holy Cross scored its first goal ten minutes into the match, and scored a second in the first few minutes of the second half to defeat Lafayette 2-1 Saturday evening at Smith Stadium.

Cassie Muzik fought off a Lafayette defender on the right side and shot past Lauren Smedley to put the Crusaders up 1-0 at the 10:14 mark.

Ally Pasquariello streaked across the Leopard defense for Holy Cross's second goal of the game. She was assisted by Gina Righini with 67:22 on the clock.

Lafayette's only goal was scored with five minutes left in the game. Laura Zito picked up a loose ball at about the 18-yard line, and found Alyssa Finelli on the left side for the score. It is Finelli's fourth goal of the season.

The Leopards battled hard for the remaining time, but the Crusaders' insurance goal gave them the edge in the end.

Lauren Smedley had seven saves for the Leopards, giving her 69 for the season.

Lafayette will next be in action on Oct. 19 at Metzgar Field where they will take on Colgate under the lights. The team is 3-1-1 at home, and hopes to continue that success.
