BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Wagner had no match for the 6'7" force of junior co-captain Danielle Fiacco on Sunday afternoon at Stabler Arena, as Lafayette snapped a four-game skid with a 64-45 victory over the Seahawks.
Fiacco notched 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, hitting 4-of-6 from the foul line. She snagged 10 rebounds to complete the double-double and added four blocks on the defensive end.
Homan came up one rebound shy of her first double-double for the second straight game, picking up nine to go along with her 12 points, three assists and two blocks.
Sophomore Brya Freeland led all scorers with 16 points, a season-high. Freeland went 6-for-11 from the field and 2-for-7 from beyond the arc. Two made free throws rounded out her solid performance.
The Leopards came out aggressive, jumping out to a 9-3 lead in the first three minutes on two Fiacco free throws. A transition layup by Freeland of a Fiacco outlet pass gave Lafayette the 23-16 lead with six minutes remaining in the half.
The Leopards went into the break with a 30-23 advantage. The thirty-point first-half performance was the highest opening-stanza total of the season.
Junior Kelly Loughney's turnaround from the low block off the assist from freshman Jamie O'Hare pushed the Lafayette lead to 11, just over five minutes into the second half.
The Leopards put this game away early as two free throws from junior Kristan Liddle gave Lafayette its largest lead of the season with 4:39 remaining, up 61-36. O'Hare hit two free throws to close it out, making the final, 64-45.
The Maroon and White return to Kirby Sports Center on Tuesday as they take on the Rider Broncs at 7 p.m.
