EASTON, Pa. - Despite three double-doubles from senior co-captains Kaitlynn Zoller and Sarah Frohnapfel, along with junior Karissa Ciliento, the Lafayette volleyball team fell to Army in four sets on Friday evening in Kirby Sports Center.

Zoller led the Leopard attack with 13 kills and helped out on defense with 17 digs, not to mention three blocks at the net. Ciliento tallied 12 kills and 11 digs, while Frohnapfel dug up 11 balls and racked up 42 assists on the evening.

Lafayette came out in the first set fired up, jumping out to an early 4-1 lead on an attack error from Army's Deanna Dalton. After the Black Knights battled back to tie the set at 10, the Leopards again shifted the momentum and took a late 20-16 on a Zoller finish. An attack error from Army's Margaux Jarka gave Lafayette the set, 25-22. It was just the second set the Leopards have taken off of Army since Nov. 11, 2006.

In the second, Army came out and exhibited why they were 9-3 in the Patriot League coming into the match. The Black Knights took a 20-11 lead on Francine Vasquez's putaway and went on to finish off the second, 25-16.

The third set was back-and-forth early with Lafayette and Army trading points. Lafayette pulled within two at 19-17 on a kill from senior Alexandra Russo, but dropped six of the final eight points to fall, 25-19.

An Army kill from Ariana Mankus put the Leopards in a 15-10 hole to start the fourth. Head coach Terri Dadio Campbell's squad refused to quit though as they battled back to within one at 21-20 on another Russo kill. Army, however, proved to be too much as another Mankus kill finished them off, 25-22 in the fourth.

Lafayette will be back in action tomorrow afternoon on Senior Day as it takes on Holy Cross at 2 p.m. in Kirby Sports Center for its final match of the season.
