Sport: Men's Lacrosse
Class: 2012
Major: Civil Engineering
What do you enjoy about your major?
My favorite parts of my major are the lab periods and projects we work on. We always are working on a really cool team-oriented project that usually requires getting our hands dirty and learning first-hand how civil engineering systems work. I'd choose that over a lecture or a round table discussion any day.
One class that every Lafayette student should try to take is…
...Engineering 101. If anything, it will give you non-engineers a little perspective as to why we spend so much time in Acopian. I'd also recommend doing an Independent Study because it gives you a chance to break away from a traditional course syllabus and dive further into what you really want to study. It requires a little initiative and organization, but it's one of the best learning experiences you'll get.
What was your most unique academic experience (class/project/internship) at Lafayette?
I'd say that the LIME program was the most unique. I was one of seven students that went to Madagascar in January 2011 to teach some of their students about the American college process. Not many people get to experience the level of hands-on work that we did… and who goes to Madagascar?
What goals have the lacrosse team set for this season?
Just like any other team in our conference, we want to win the Patriot League. I think that playing tough, hungry and smart lacrosse will help our young talent and experienced leaders be successful.
What song/band/album is most likely to be playing on your iPod?
Calvin Harris, Lil Wayne, or Kenny Chesney
What movie can you quote word-for-word?
Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison; I grew up watching the Adam Sandler classics.
Who is most famous person you have ever met?
Does Alex Floeck count? If not, then Colin Serling. Rob Glascott has a lot of potential too, once he establishes his modeling career.
Pregame Ritual: Nothing crazy, I just re-tape all of my sticks before each game.
Team-Given Nickname: "Tim" is the most recent one. I think Bob FitzPatrick and Will Heffernan's dad like this story the most, so if you're interested I'd ask one of them.
Favorite Cartoon Character: Either Peter Griffin or Doug Gallagher
Words to Live By: I usually listen to what Paul Hammer has to say, and then I do the exact opposite. It's working out very well for me, and I recommend everyone else do the same.
