EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette volleyball team ended up on the wrong side of two 26-24 set decisions leading to a straight set defeat at the hands of Colgate on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Karissa Ciliento led the Leopard attack for the second straight game, tallying 11 kills. Freshman Brianne Giangiobbe added seven kills offensively.

Senior Sarah Frohnapfel recorded 25 assists on the day, while freshman Lauren Pisauro replaced injured sophomore libero Michelle Woodworth and led the Leopards defensively with 17 digs. Senior Kaitlynn Zoller added 11 digs and sophomore Danielle Towslee contributed six blocks at the net.

The first set featured nine ties and four lead changes as it was tight from beginning to end. A service ace by senior Fiorella Bellini tied the set at 22 apiece as each team traded points down the stretch. Finally, a Michelle McCarthy kill, followed by a Caitlin Cremin service ace finished off the first for the Raiders, 26-24.

A Ciliento kill on the 25th point of the second set gave Lafayette the 15-10 lead. Unfortunately, the Raiders rallied off six straight points after that to take the lead, 16-15. Ciliento's attack error late gave the Raiders the second, 25-20.

The third set was all about runs as Colgate jumped out to an early 9-2 lead on a Kaylee Fifer kill. Fighting back, Ciliento and Towslee teamed up on a block of Colgate's Liz Karnes to tie the set at 12 apiece. From that point on, momentum continued to shift back-and-forth as the score was tied late at 24-24. Again though, the Raiders were able to finish as kills from Colgate's McCarthy and Lindsay Young ended Lafayette's hopes at a comeback, taking the match with a third-set score of 26-24.

Next up for the Leopards is a trip to American on Friday to take on the Eagles at 7 p.m.
