Easton, Pa. - Lafayette dropped a 3-1 decision to Army on senior day inside Kirby Sports Center. Prior to the match, seniors Karissa Ciliento and Molly Belcher were honored. Ciliento recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Samantha Volk handed out 33 assists, while Brianne Giangiobbe finished with nine kills and Jet Manzi and Katy Rooney tallied six kills in the loss. Lauren Pisauro had a match-high 27 digs, while Rooney and Kelly Flynn each had a three blocks. Army was powered by Megan Wilton and Olivia Fairfield with 13 kills apiece.

Army and Lafayette battled in the first set with neither team being able to separate themselves midway through the set, as the score was tied at 14. The Black Knights used an 8-2 run to break open the set, giving Army a 22-16 lead. Army went on to win the opening set, 25-21. Katy Rooney and Karissa Ciliento led the Leopards with four and three kills respectively.

In the second set, Army raced out to a 12-2 lead early on. Back-to-back kills from Brianne Giangiobbe and Danielle Towslee cut the deficit to 12-4, but the Knights went on a 13-6 run to win the second frame, 25-10, and take a 2-0 lead in the match. Giangiobbe and Ciliento tallied a pair of kills in the set.

Trailing 18-14 in the third set, Lafayette came storming back to tied the match at 22, highlighted by a Giangiobbe kill. After Army took a 23-22 advantage, Giangiobbe was there to tie the game with another kill and Ciliento delivered an ace to give the Leopards a 24-23 lead. The Black Knights were able to tie the set at 25, but a kill from Jet Manzi and a block assist from Kelly Flynn and Giangiobbe gave Lafayette a 27-25 win in the third set.

Army jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the fourth set and never looked back. Kills by Katy Rooney and Giangiobbe pulled the Leopards to within two, 12-10 and 15-13, but Army was able to maintain its lead and went on to win the fourth set 25-17 and the match 3-1.

Lafayette finished the 2013 campaign with an 11-16 record, and a 3-13 mark in Patriot League play.
