LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lafayette softball dropped the final two games of its third Patriot League series of the season, handed 4-0 and 8-3 decisions by Bucknell on Sunday.

In the first game, Bucknell took a 2-0 lead in the second and never looked back. Cheyanna Young (single) and Mary Horton (groundout) each drove in runs for the early lead.

The Bison added two more in the fifth. Mariah Midyette used a sac fly to plate a run and Kristen Zahn also scored on the play.

Brittany Paul had a pair of singles for the Leopards in the third and sixth innings while Bryn Gornick and Jordan Parsons accounted for the Leopards' other two hits.

Amanda Fazio won her second game in as many days, striking out two of the 19 batters she faced. Cindy Cherness threw the final 1.2 innings for the Bison without allowing a hit. Melissa Robinson (6-14) gave up four runs (two earned) on seven hits in the loss.

In the second game, Bucknell (13-24, 6-6) got things going when Erin Cox connected for a solo home run. The Bison piled on four more runs in the fourth. Midyette hit a solo shot of her own followed by Horton's two-run double to left centerfield. Bucknell led 5-0.

The Leopards (8-29, 2-10) pounded out three runs in the top of the fifth to close the game to 5-3. Victoria Vergona's bases-loaded ground out pushed across Lafayette's first run of the weekend. The Leopards tacked on two more runs on a fielding error as Robinson and Paul (2-for-4) trotted home.

Leading 5-3, Bucknell added a run in the fifth on Midyette's single and two more in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Dana Nielsen threw five innings for the victory. She struck out seven while giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits. Gornick surrendered four runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings in the loss while Kaitlin Perrine threw the final 2.2 innings.

Lafayette returns to action on Wednesday, hosting St. Peter's in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
