The Leopards dropped to 0-1 in league play and 6-6 overall, while Army improved to 1-0 in the league and 9-3 overall.

Emily Homan paced Lafayette with 13 points and five boards, while Linnel Macklin scored 11 points in the loss. Army scored 32 points from the free throw line, shooting 32-of-36 from the charity stripe. The Maroon and White were outrebounded for just the third time this season, 36-29.

The Leopards opened on a 4-0 run early, but Army answered with an 8-0 spurt to take an 8-4 lead with 15 and a half minutes to play in the opening half. Jen Hazlett and Kelsey Minato scored the first 18 points for the Black Knights; as they built an 18-6 lead with under 13 minutes to play in the opening frame.

Macklin cut the lead to single digits with a pair from the free throw line, 22-13, at the 7:09 mark, but Army maintained a nine-point cushion and led by 10 at the under four media timeout. Danielle Fiacco trimmed the lead to eight, 30-22, on an easy layup off a pass from Madeline Fahan.

Maia Hood knocked down her first career three from the wing to make it a seven point game with two minutes to play in the half. Followed by a Kelly Loughney jumper from the free throw line and the Leopards went into the break down six, 33-27.

Maddie Peabody opened the second half scoring with a three from the wing, but Army answered with a three of its own on the next possession. Another three from Minato pushed the Army lead up to nine, 39-30, with 17 and a half minutes to play.

Fiacco found an open Loughney down low for an easy bucket, but the Black Knights countered with a 7-0 run over the next four minutes to push their lead to 13, 46-33. Homan finished inside with nine minutes to play, making it 50-37.

After an Army basket, Macklin knocked down a triple from the wing to trim the lead to 12, 52-40, but a 7-0 run from the Black Knights increased their lead to 19 with six minutes to play. Army was able to maintain the lead over the final minutes and went on to win, 66-49.
