Easton, Pa. - The Lafayette volleyball team hosted Colgate for its annual Dig Pink Match, 3-0. Jet Manzi led the Leopards with 11 kills, while Danielle Towslee finished with 10 kills.
Lafayette moved to 4-18 overall and 1-9 in Patriot League play. The Raiders improved to 13-7 and 7-3 in conference play. Samantha Volk and Tori Smith combined for 33 assists, and Lauren Pisauro finished with a match-high 21 digs. Colgate was led by Katie Fauntleroy with 11 kills.
The Raiders opened up a 10-3 lead to start the match, but a kill from Manzi slowed the run and pulled the Leopards within five, 13-8. Colgate continued to lead in the first game and took the opening set, 25-13.
After falling behind early in the second game, 10-3, Lafayette came storming back with a 10-3 run, highlighted by a pair of kills from both Katherine Stevens and Manzi, to tie the set at 13. The Leopards took their first lead of the frame, 18-16, on a kill from Elizabeth Walsh. A block from Smith and Stevens pushed the Lafayette lead to 21-18. Colgate used a 4-1 run to tie the second game at 22. The teams exchanged points until a block from Colgate's Kathleen Harris and Diane Seely gave the Raiders the game, 31-29.
Colgate jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the third game, but the Leopards used a 10-4 run, highlighted by four Stevens blocks to trim the lead to one, 11-10. The Raiders pushed ahead 20-17, but Lafayette answered with a kill from Manzi. Colgate was able to score five of the next six to take the third set, 25-19, and the match, 3-0.
The Leopards travel to Annapolis, Md. on Sunday to take on Navy.
