EASTON, Pa. - Sophomore quarterback Blake Searfoss has been named the Patriot League Football Offensive Player of the Week.
Searfoss came off the bench and led Lafayette to a comeback victory as he completed 29-of-46 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns in a 19-16 win at Colgate on Saturday. He entered in the second quarter and set career highs across the board.
Lafayette trailed 16-0 in the third quarter before Searfoss threw a 13-yard touchdown to Mike Duncan and a 14-yarder to Brian Keller while also throwing for the two-point conversion after each score to even the game at 16-16. He later zipped a 37-yard pass to Justin Adams on a 3rd-and-8 play to put the Leopards in position for Thomas Martin's game-winning field goal as time expired. Lafayette won at Colgate for the first time since 2006.
Lafayette has this week off from competition, but begins practice preparation for the 150th Meeting of College Football's Most-Played Rivalry, Lafayette vs. Lehigh, on Nov. 22. More than 49,000 fans are expected to pack Yankee Stadium for the game which was first played Oct. 25, 1884.
