Edwards Earns Consecutive Patriot League Player of the Week Awards

Tailback accounted for 255 yards and four TDs in a 42-37 win at Georgetown

EASTON, Pa. - Junior running back Kente Edwards set new career highs against Georgetown (19 carries, 255 yards, four touchdowns) to run away with Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award.

For Edwards, it's his second weekly honor of his career, winning the award the last two weeks. The Annandale, N.J. native ran wild, scoring on rushes 70, 28, one and 51 yards. Edwards ranks first in the nation in rushing touchdowns (7), second in rushing yards (409) and first in scoring (14.0). It was the 13th 200-yard game at Lafayette since 1990 and the first 200-yard rushing game for the Leopards since Nov. 11, 2023. Edwards averaged 13.4 yards per carry, coming off a week two performance at Stonehill in which he ran for 127 yards in his first career start.

Saturday marked the first four-TD game for a Leopard since Jon Hurt punched in four scores vs. Georgetown on Nov. 11, 2006. Edwards' 255-yard rushing game placed him in fourth on the single-game rushing yards chart, becoming the first person since Ross Scheuerman (2014) to join the top 10.

The Maroon and White return to the friendly confines of Fisher Stadium for the first time in 2025, hosting Columbia for a Friday night matchup at 6 p.m. Lafayette has won its last three home lid-lifters, beating Sacred Heart 6-0 in 2022, Columbia 24-3 in 2023 and Marist 56-14 in 2024.
