Easton, Pa. - Emily Homan's season-high 29 points and Ashley Lutz first career double-double, including a pair of free throws late, led the Leopards past Penn, 60-57, in a back and forth battle on Tuesday night. Lutz finished with a career-high 11 points and 11 boards.

Penn scored four straight points to take a 57-56 advantage at 2:19, but a baseline jumper from Jamie O'Hare pushed Lafayette ahead with 25 seconds to go. The Leopards made a defensive stop on Penn's final possession. Lutz grabbed board and was immediately fouled. The sophomore knocked down both free throws to seal the 60-57 victory for Lafayette.

Lafayette (4-2) controlled the paint outscoring Penn (3-2) 36-24, while also holding a 15-9 advantage in second chance points. The Quakers outrebounded the Leopards, 43-36, but the Leopards took care of the basketball, forcing 14 turnovers, while only turning the ball over seven times.

Homan scored six of Lafayette's first 13 points to help the Leopards open a 13-10 lead at the first media timeout. Sammy Stipa scored four straight points for Lafayette and drew an offensive foul, as the Leopards stretched their advantage to seven midway through the first half.

After a five-point run from Penn, Lafayette answered with a Linnel Macklin three, followed by a Homan lay-in to maintain its seven-point lead, 24-17. The Quakers used a 14-6 spurt to take the lead 31-30 with two and a half minutes to play in the half. O'Hare answered with a three from the corner, and Lafayette went into the break ahead 34-33.

Penn scored eight of the first 12 points of the second half to lead 41-38 early in the second frame. A Maddie Peabody steal led to an easy bucket for Lutz, trimming the deficit to 44-42 with 14 minutes to play.

Both teams failed to score over the next four minutes until Penn's Sydney Stipanovich completed a three-point play to push the Quaker lead to a game-high five. Back-to-back buckets from Homan and Lutz brought the Leopards to within a point with nine minutes to play. Another basket from Homan pushed Lafayette ahead, 48-47.

A layup from Peabody was answered by Penn's Stipanovich at the 6:29 mark. A minute later, Macklin found Homan in the paint for two to take a three-point lead, 53-50. The Quakers countered with a three from Kathleen Roche to tie the game at 53. After an offensive rebound from Lutz, Homan's 29th point of the game gave Lafayette a 56-53 lead at the final media timeout.

The Leopards return to the court on Friday night at St. Francis Brooklyn.
