Easton, Pa. - An 11-3 run to start the second half pushed Lafayette women's basketball past NJIT, 66-50 on Sunday afternoon in Kirby Sports Center. Emily Homan finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Linnel Macklin chipped in 12 points and four assists for the Leopards.

The 11-3 spurt was part of a 16-3 run that began with a three from Anna Ptasinski late in the first half. The Leopards (6-4) shot a season-high 47.9 percent from the field, including 7-of-15 from beyond the arc. Ptasinski finished with eight points off the bench, while Sammy Stipa scored a career-high seven points in the win. NJIT (5-9) had three players in double figures, led by Nicole Maticka and Martina Matejcikova with 11 points apiece.

Homan scored six of Lafayette's first 14 points to help the Leopards build a four-point lead midway through the first half. The teams exchanged baskets over the next few minutes, before NJIT pushed in front, 23-21, at the under-four media timeout.

The Leopard used a 6-3 run late in the half to take a 29-24 lead with two minutes to play. NJIT countered with a four-point spurt, but Ptasinki's three and a bucket from Homan sent the Leopards to the break with a 34-28 lead.

Another basket from Homan to start the second half, followed by a Macklin three-pointer increased the Lafayette advantage to 11. A cross-court pass from Brya Freeland found Jamie O'Hare for a mid-range jumper to stretch the lead to 45-31 with 14 minutes to play.

Annette Snow's three-pointer with 12 minutes to go bumped the edge to 15. Sammy Stipa connected on another Lafayette triple to increase the Leopard advantage to 51-34. Back-to-back buckets from Ptasinski and Stipa pushed Lafayette to its largest lead of the afternoon at 20 with 8:33 to play.

With 6:30 left Ptasinki buried her second three of the night from the corner to maintain Lafayette's 19-point edge, 60-41, and the Leopards closed out the game with a 66-50 victory.

Lafayette is back in action on Dec. 28 at Saint Peter's at 2 p.m.
