Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team fell to Stony Brook 18-10 in the Leopards season opener. Brian Bock led the way offensively netting a hat trick for the Leopards, while Mac Gallagher tallied a pair goal and an assist in the loss.

Jake Hyatt suffered the loss making seven saves in 52:17 of action. Sonny Round and Robert Orazietti each scored a goal and an assist for the Leopards. Brody Eastwood led the Seawolves with a game-high six goals, and Patrick Fleming made five saves to earn the win.

Round got the scoring started for the Leopards a minute and a half into the game off a feed from Orazietti. Stony Brook answered with a pair of goals midway through the quarter to take a 2-1 lead. Bock tied the game at two at the 6:32 mark of the opening period, but the Seawolves fired back with two goals in the next three minutes.

With time expiring in the quarter, John Floyd pulled the Leopards to within a goal with his first tally of the season. Bock found the back of the net for the second time in the game midway through the second frame to knot the game at four apiece. Stony Brook scored five consecutive goals in the final eight minutes of the second quarter to take a 9-4 lead into the break.

Morgan Westby opened the scoring in the second half, finishing off a pass from Mac Gallagher to cut the Stony Brook advantage to four, 9-5. The Seawolves answered a minute later and scored the final five goals of the quarter to take a 14-5 lead into the fourth quarter.

Gallagher got on the scoring sheet to start the fourth quarter with his first goal of the season. Dillon Confalone netted his first collegiate goal with 10:03 on the clock, and Orazietti tallied a minute later to make it a 16-8 game. Bock completed his hat trick with two and a half minutes to play and Gallagher added his second goal, but the Seawolves took down the Leopards, 18-10.

Lafayette is back in action on Saturday when it faces off against Colgate in the pairs first game of Patriot League play.
