EASTON, Pa. - Junior Kelly Boyce found the back of the net in the 73rd minute to propel the Lafayette women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over UMass-Lowell on Friday night at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.

Boyce' first goal of the season broke a scoreless tie and evened the Leopards record at 3-3. Sophomores Joanna Scotti and Kaelin King assisted on the goal as Boyce's shot eluded the outstretched arm of UMass-Lowell (2-5) goalkeeper Jill Carlson at 73:40.

The Leopards' goal came less than two minutes after a corner kick resulted in a Scotti shot that hit the post. Lafayette had six corners on the night and did not allow any for the River Hawks. For the night, shots were even at nine, but Lafayette put five on goal.

The two teams played even in the first half. Lafayette had its best scoring opportunity in the 21st minute when King's header trickled wide of the goal after a cross from the right-hand side. UMass-Lowell's Sinead O'Callaghan hit the crossbar in the 32nd minute.

Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Sedillo recorded her third shutout of the season, stopping two shots on goal.

Lafayette returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Monmouth for a 6 p.m. start.
