Washington, D.C. - The Lafayette women's volleyball team fell, 3-0, to American in Patriot League play on Saturday afternoon. Danielle Towslee led the Leopards with four kills, while Lauren Pisauro had a team-high 11 digs.
Lafayette received three kills apiece from Kelly Flynn, Brianne Giangiobbe, Jet Manzi, Tori Smith and Elizabeth Walsh. American was led by Allison Cappellino with 11 kills, followed by Sarah Katz with 10.
Towslee tallied two of her kills in the opening set, while Manzi also contributed a pair of kills. American, however, controlled the frame and took the game, 25-11. In the second set Walsh led the team with three kills, but the Eagles won the set, 25-8.
In the third set, American raced out to a 10-5 lead, but the Leopards fought back with kills from Flynn and Giangiobbe to pull within a point, 15-14. After the Eagles pushed ahead 21-17, kills by Giangiobbe and Smith tied the set at 22. American would go on to take the set, 26-24, and the match, 3-0, on a pair of kills from Cappelino.
Lafayette is back in action tomorrow afternoon at Loyola.
