EASTON, Pa. – Emily Homan secured her second consecutive double-double, but the Leopards fell to Patriot League-leading American, 74-58 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles made 9-of-16 from beyond the arc to improve to 12-2 in Patriot League play.

Homan finished with a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds in the setback, while Jamie O'Hare scored 14 points for the Leopards. Lafayette moved to 12-13 overall and 5-9 in Patriot League play.

The Eagles were led by Arron Zimmerman’s 16 points and Jen Dumiak’s 15 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds.

The teams exchanged baskets early on, but American used a 13-0 run to open a 21-8 advantage with 13 minutes to play in the first half. The Leopards and Eagles continued to trade buckets midway through the opening period, as American held a 30-17 lead.

O’Hare slowed a 7-1 American spurt with a three-pointer in the corner at the three-minute mark, making it a 37-21 margin. Homan converted on the block in the final minute and the Leopards went into the break down, 39-25.

American knocked down four of its first five shots in the second half, including three triples, as Dumiak and Zimmerman hit back-to-back threes to stretch the lead to 20, 50-30 with 16:58 to play.

The Eagles continued their hot shooting midway through the half, holding a 61-35 advantage. The Leopards trimmed the deficit to 20 with five minutes to play on a Maddie Peabody jumper and a lay-in from Homan.

A three-point play from Homan at the 3:43 mark, sliced the margin to 17, 66-49. Two more from the free throw line by Homan made it a 15-point game with three minutes on the clock, but American was able to close out the game and take down Lafayette, 74-58. 

The Maroon and White made 20-of-27 from the free throw line, but struggled from distance, making 4-of-16 from beyond the arc, while American held a 44-38 advantage on the glass.

The Leopards visit Holy Cross on Wednesday night. Tip off from Massachusetts is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Notes:

Homan scored in double figures for the 25th straight game and picked up her eighth double-double of the season.

O’Hare tied her career-high with seven assists for the second straight game.
