EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette softball program placed two former student-athletes on the Patriot League Softball 25th Anniversary Team announced Thursday. Jen Rothrock '97 and Christina Giambrone '09 were among the 25 total honorees.
Jen Rothrock was named an All-Patriot League First-Team selection from 1995-97 while also garnering the Patriot League Co-Player of the Year award in 1996. A season later, she won the award outright, hitting for a .415 clip, which ranked her among the NCAA leaders for that season. In 1997, she was selected as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year and an Academic All-American.
Rothrock was a member of the Patriot League All-Decade Team and ranks in the top 10 in Patriot League history in career batting average (.355).
In her four-year career at Lafayette, Giambrone hit for a .343 average with 149 hits and 99 RBIs. In 2007, Giambrone secured Patriot League Rookie of the Year honors, the first ever Lafayette recipient. Giambrone capped her career as the Patriot League Player of the Year as a senior and was a three-time All-Patriot League selection, with first-team honors in 2008 and 2009. She ranks first in Lafayette history and fourth in League history with 29 home runs in her career.
The Patriot League is releasing its 25th Anniversary Teams throughout the month of August for each sport that has been sponsored by the League since it became an all-sport conference at the beginning of the 1990-91 season. In addition to the 25th Anniversary Teams, coverage throughout the 2015-16 season will focus on former student-athletes and top stories in the history of the Patriot League.
