EASTON, Pa. -- Freshman
Jessica Tejera batted for a .556 average on her way to Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week honors, announced Monday afternoon.
Tejera played in all five of the Leopards' games during the reporting week, making the first three starts of her career. A native of Scarsdale, N.Y., Tejera went 2-for-2 with a pinch-hit home run in the first game of a doubleheader with St. Peter's on April 15. That performance led to her first career start in game two of the twinbill. In the Holy Cross series on the weekend, the Economics major managed two hits in game two. In game three, she scored the tying run in an eventual 6-4 victory that handed the Leopards their second conference series win of the season.
This season, Lafayette already has eclipsed its 2025 season win total, accumulating the program's most victories since 2017. The Leopards will be back in action on Saturday, opening a three-game series with Colgate.
