EASTON, Pa. -- Colgate pitchers Kyle Griswold and Brigit Ieuter held Lafayette to six hits over two games in Saturday's Patriot League doubleheader at Metzgar Fields.

In the opener, Griswold scattered four hits in a 4-1 final. In the second game, Ieuter shut out the Leopards offense, holding them to a pair of hits in a 6-0 final. She also made noise with her bat, clubbing a two-run home run.

GAME ONE
The Raiders staked Griswold to a pair of runs in the top of the second inning, as No. 9 hitter Meghan Romero connected for a two-out, two-run single with the bases loaded.

In the third, consecutive doubles chased Lafayette starter Stacy Gordon from the game. Stephanie Thomas came on in relief and was able to get a lineout double play and another liner to Brooke Wensel to end the inning with Colgate lead 3-0.

The Leopards got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning. Brooke Wensel was hit by a pitch and later scored on an errant relay throw on a potential doubleplay ball. That was the only offense for the Leopards who left eight runners on base on in the game.

Griswold (4-12) struck out three and walked five over seven innings in the win. Thomas allowed on unearned run on four hits in five innings of work. Gordon (4-7) surrendered three runs on five hits in the loss.

GAME TWO
The nightcap was a pitchers' duel through six innings. Ieuter's two-out, two-run home run in the second inning turned out to be enough offense for the Raiders (10-27, 5-9).

She did not allow a baserunner until the fourth inning when an error, a walk and finally an infield single by Maddie Wensel loaded the bases. Ieuter faced Bryn Gornick who grounded out to third for the final out of the inning.

Colgate added an insurance run in the sixth. Marisa Dowling singled to right and Tara Grennan (double) scored from second. Greenan eluded Maddie Wensel's tag at the plate after Thomas' throw from rightfield was on the money, but just tardy.

The Raiders put away the game with three runs in the seventh. A single and a double chased Lafayette starter Lindsey Chery from the game in favor of Kristyn Marinelli. Katie Bushee was the first batter Marinelli faced and she doubled in two runs as Colgate ran the final to 6-0.

Cherry (3-4) gave up five runs on eight hits over six innings while walking four and striking out one. Ieuter (5-12) fanned four and walked four over seven innings.

Lafayette (12-29, 2-12) finishes off the series on Sunday beginning at noon (weather permitting). Prior to the game, Lafayette's four seniors will be honored as part of Senior Day.
