EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette used double-double performances from freshman Olivia Gumbs and senior Ashley Lutz to power past Colgate 90-85 on Senior Day at Kirby Sports Center.

Lutz, who finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds, was one of three seniors in the starting lineup, joining Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby (9 pts, 6 reb.) and Maia Hood. Gumbs put in a career-high 30 points to go along with 12 rebounds in her fifth double-double of the season (the most for a Lafayette freshman since Emily Homan in 2011-12).

The Leopards shot 53 percent from the floor on the afternoon, including 55 percent in the decisive fourth quarter. Their work at the line down the stretch sealed the victory, as they made 6-of-7 in the final two and a half minutes.

The first half was high scoring, as Colgate shot a scorching 61 percent and Lafayette 51 percent from the field. The Raiders hit 14-of-19 (74 percent) in the second quarter and 50 percent for the game.

Gumbs came off the bench on Senior Day and it only took 17 seconds before she made her presence known, scoring a post bucket in one half of the court and grabbing a defensive rebound in the other. With 1:03 left in the opening quarter, Gumbs fed Sarah Agnello for a three. Then, Agnello hit another on the next possession to stretch the Leopard margin to 25-13.

Lutz and Agnello combined to make all five of their three-point attempts in the first half and Anna Ptasinski (12 points) chipped in her own three ball.

A pair of Gumbs' layups surrounded a Lutz three-pointer as Lafayette took its largest lead of the game (36-22) with 7:10 left in the first half. Gumbs had 16 points and six boards in the first half while Lutz contributed 15 and seven. Lafayette outrebounded Colgate 20-12.

Lafayette led by 11 with 3:18 left in the half on Lutz's final three-pointer, but Colgate closed out the stanza on a 14-4 run. Summer King scored eight of Colgate's 14 points in the spurt, all on points in the paint. Katie Curtis' three-pointer in the corner with two seconds left cut Lafayette's halftime lead to 48-47.

With 2:49 left in the third quarter, Gumbs finished a physical and-one with after being knocked to the ground, pushing the Leopards' advantage to 63-52. Ptasinski's second three-pointer of the game came with a minute left in the quarter which ended 68-60. Four and a half minutes into the final quarter, Ptasinski finished off a three-point play at the free throw line after hitting a 14-foot floater. Lafayette led 77-68.

Colgate's perimeter effort quickly trimmed the deficit. Mackenzie Carroll (4:31) hit a three-pointer and Kateri Stone connected another 30 seconds later to kick off a 13-2 spurt by the Raiders. Colgate took its first lead of the game since the 6:32 mark in the first half when Mylah Chandler made a layup to go ahead 81-80. Chandler (12 points) was one of five Colgate players in double figures.

The Leopards went back inside to Gumbs off a feed from Ottewill-Soulsby and Gumbs' three-point play gave Lafayette an 83-81 advantage. Two Colgate (10-18, 7-10) layups by Rachel Thompson (18 points) and a pair Lutz free throws tied the game for a final time 85-85 with 1:07 remaining.

Out of a timeout, the Leopards pounded the ball into Gumbs who turned around and converted a short jumper. Stone missed a three at the other end and Colgate was forced to foul. Nia Holland made both foul shots with 23 seconds left and Gumbs added another free throw to run the final to 90-85. Her 30-point performance for a Leopard since Homan scored 32 against Holy Cross on Jan. 22, 2014.

Lafayette (3-26, 2-15) wraps up the regular season on Wednesday at Bucknell in a 6 p.m. tip-off. The Leopards will learn their Patriot League Tournament first-round opponent that night, pending the outcome of other Patriot League contests.
