EASTON, Pa. ÃÆ'Æ’¢ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¡¬ÃÆ'¢Ã¢â€š¬Ã…â€Å" The Lafayette baseball team dropped a pair of Patriot League games to Lehigh on Sunday afternoon to complete a four-game series at Kamine Stadium.

Four Lafayette (3-41, 1-15 PL) batters recorded a multi-hit game on the afternoon against Lehigh (16-24, 6-10 PL), beginning with Patrick Nelson, who picked up a pair of base knocks in the first game of the day. In the nightcap, Steven Cohen and Alex Woinski both batted 3-for-5, while John Marti went 2-for-2 with two doubles and a run scored.

Game 1: Lehigh 5, Lafayette 1 (7 innings)
WP: Levi Stoudt (2-5), LP: Brett Kreyer (0-6)

The Sunday opener went two innings without a run being put on the board, but in the third, the Mountain Hawks got a leadoff home run to go ahead 1-0. A one-out single was also recorded in the inning before David Young hit an RBI single to left to push the advantage to two.

Lehigh tacked on three additional runs and entering the bottom of the sixth, led 5-0. John Selsor was due up first in the sixth for the Leopards and he was hit by a pitch. After the first two outs of the inning were recorded, Jake Sniegocki drew a base on balls to set up Trey Durrah for an RBI single to center to trim the deficit to four, 5-1.

The Leopards were unable to plate another run against the Lehigh starter, Levi Stoudt, and ultimately fell 5-1.

Game 2: Lehigh 12, Lafayette 2
WP: Matt Hand (1-0), LP: David Giusti (0-8)

In the series finale, the Leopards had no issues getting runners on base as they racked up 10 hits in the game. However, they left 14 runners stranded and were only able to manufacture two runs.

The Mountain Hawks once again were first to score as they went ahead 1-0 in the first. However, in the bottom half of the frame, the Leopards countered with a run of their own. Cohen doubled to right and after tagging up and going to third on a Spencer Rouse fly out to right, scored on a sacrifice fly by Selsor.

Lehigh put up five unanswered runs over the course of the next six innings and led 6-1. After a three-run top of the seventh, the Leopards came up to bat trailing by eight, 9-1. With two outs in the inning, Marti doubled off the fence in left and later came in to score the second run for the Maroon and White on a Cohen RBI single to center.

The Mountain Hawks put the game away in the ninth with three additional runs to claim the series sweep.

Lafayette will return to the diamond on Tuesday to play host to Rider for a non-conference showdown slated for 3:30 p.m.
