WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Lafayette volleyball team, playing its second match in as many days, couldn't stay with American on Saturday afternoon at Bender Arena, dropping a 3-0 match to close out the weekend.
The Leopards again put up their best fight in the third of a three-set match, doing the same in Friday's loss at Loyola. After falling in the first two sets by 25-8 and 25-12 scores, Lafayette fought in the third despite falling in the end, 25-18.
Leanna Deegan was the leader offensively for the Maroon and White as the only Leopard in double-digit kills with 10 on 26 total attacks.
Grace Tulevech added three kills, while
Kelly Austin chipped in with a pair.
Julia Howard racked up 17 assists on the afternoon and was also the anchor of the defensive trio, digging up five balls for the Leopards. The loss drops Lafayette to 5-17 overall and 0-10 in conference action.
The Leopards are back in action on Nov. 3, hosting Bucknell at
Kirby Sports Center at 5 p.m.
