EASTON, Pa. – Freshman 
Leanna Deegan tallied 34 kills to set the Patriot League record for kills in a single match on Saturday, but the Lafayette College volleyball team fell to Bucknell in five sets at 
Kirby Sports Center.
The record stood for 21 years and was previously held by Lehigh's Kim Freedman who had 32 kills in a 1997 match also against the Bison. The 34 kills are the tied for the sixth most in a single match in all of collegiate volleyball this season.
The Leopards (5-20, 0-13 PL) got off to a fast start, taking the opening set, 25-14, where freshman 
Grace Tulevech had six kills and Deegan added five.
The rest of the way was back-and-forth and included a 35-33 third set that was won by Lafayette to take a 2-1 advantage going into the fourth.
Bucknell (7-18, 2-12 PL) was able to win the final two sets behind Sophie Bullard's 21 kills to claim the match in five sets.
Junior setter 
Julia Howard racked up a career-high 60 assists in the match, tied for fourth most in a single match in Lafayette history, and added 11 digs and two service aces.
Along with her 34 kills, Deegan hit .441 going 34-8-59 with six digs and three blocks. Tulevech tallied 15 kills, 11 digs, three blocks and a service ace in the loss.
Freshman 
Kelly Austin made a career-high nine blocks to tie for the fourth most in a single match in the Lafayette record book.
The Maroon and White are back at it on Sunday as archrival Lehigh comes to Kirby for the Warrior Rivalry with first serve set for 3 p.m. at 
Kirby Sports Center.
