LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team traveled to No. 11/14 Bucknell on Friday evening, falling by a 15-6 score to the Bison at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium.
Lafayette scored the first goal in the game, but Bucknell answered with six straight following that tally to open up a 6-1 lead at the end of the opening quarter. The Leopards began the second quarter with a pair of markers to pull within three, but the Bison swung momentum back their way through the final buzzer, leading 8-3 at the halftime break and 11-4 at the end of the third quarter on its way to a 15-6 final.
The loss drops the Maroon and White to 3-11 overall on the year and 0-6 in Patriot League play. Bucknell improves to 10-3 this spring with a 6-1 record in conference action.
Senior co-captain James Roberts was the leading scorer for Lafayette with a pair of goals on the night, while four other Leopards tallied one apiece. Matt Close, Conor Walters, John Natoli and John Becker were the other sources of offense.
Sophomore Wes Moshier did all he could once again between the pipes, making 11 saves in his 54:01 of action. Senior Henry Vido also made his first appearance of his final campaign, stopping a shot and allowing one goal in the final 5:59.
Bucknell led the way in shots by a comfortable 45-26 margin and held a healthy advantage in ground balls, 35-24, and faceoffs, 17-8. Reed Malas led all scorers for the Bison with five goals on the night.
The Leopards finish up their season with Senior Night on Friday, April 20, hosting Colgate at Fisher Stadium with opening faceoff set for 7 p.m.
