BOSTON, Mass.-- Boston U. pitcher Ali DuBois out-dueled Lafayette starter Alexis Randall in a 3-0 finale on Sunday afternoon.
DuBois (22-6) did not give up a run over seven innings, scattering four hits while striking out six. Randall (5-15) let in two earned runs on seven hits with a strikeout over six innings of work.
Lafayette managed its first hit of the game when Samantha Sweigart led off the fourth inning with a single. Paige Grover tried to bunt her to second, but popped out. Sweigart eventually took second on a stolen base but ventured no farther as DuBois struck out Brooke Wensel and enticed Maddie Wensel into ground out.
Boston U. (30-17, 10-2) secured all three of its runs in bottom half of the inning. Marina Sylvestri (single) and Kaitlin Sahlinger (tripled) both plated runs and Sahlinger scored on an error as the Terriers led 3-0.
Randall, Grover and Malori Pojar singled in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, respectively, but Lafayette could not take advantage in any instance. The Leopards stranded two runners in the visitor seventh as Miranda Skurla reached via a walk.
The Leopards (7-35, 3-12) return to action on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Drexel
