EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette found itself with leads in both ends of Saturday's Patriot League doubleheader vs. Bucknell, but the Bison used late-inning heroics to capture a 5-2 win in eight innings in game one and a 6-3 decision in game two.

The Leopards led for the majority of the first game. Freshman Paige Grover, who had been getting it done with the glove over the first two games of the series, smacked her fourth home run of the season to give Lafayette a 1-0 lead.

The Leopards added another run in the fourth, loading the bases with no outs. Miranda Skurla doubled off the wall to start things and the Leopards eventually scored on Morgan Biddle's bases-loaded groundout to lead 2-0.

Bucknell (17-18, 7-2) tied the game in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, pinch hitter Paulina Gutkin delivered a two-out single to center field that was just out of the reach of a diving Biddle. That scored two runs before a groundout ended the inning with the game knotted at 2-2.

In the eighth, Jess Hom singled in the go-ahead run with two outs. Julienne Egofske followed with a single to center to plate two more runs and give Bucknell a 5-2 advantage.

The Leopards sent their 3-4-5 hitters to the plate in the seventh, but couldn't get anything going as Lafayette's first extra-inning game of the season went final.

Alexis Randall (2-12) threw all eight innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on 11 hits with a walk and a strikeout. Raeanne Geffert threw seven innings while allowing one run on four hits with four strikeouts and a walk.

In game two, the teams traded runs over the first two innings. Lafayette starter Stacy Gordon put the first two batters on based and Hannah Cook came on in relief. The Bison scored on a Taylor Wolfgang single with two outs in the inning. Ellen McDonnell's sliding grab in left saved another run.

Lafayette snatched the lead in the third inning. With Skurla aboard, Maddie Wensel blasted her first home run of the season over the wall in leftfield to push the score to 3-1.

Bucknell added a run on a Meghan Kovac single in the fifth, but minimized the damage, cutting her down trying to stretch the hit into a double to end the inning with a 3-2 lead.

Bucknell tacked on two more runs, including one on a Halie Mariano pinch-hit triple, to take the 4-3 lead. In the seventh, Lauren Hadley hit a two-run homer to push Bucknell to a 6-3 final.

Geffert (12-7) claimed her third victory of the series, throwing four innings while giving up just one hit and striking out two. Cook (2-4) was hit with the loss after pitching all seven. She allowed five runs on 11 hits with three walks.

The Leopards (4-28, 1-8) return to action on Wednesday, traveling to Villanova for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
