May 7, 2018 EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette's Oaks Leadership Academy honored eight student-athletes with Leader of Merit and Leader of Distinction honors at its annual reception a week ago.
The Oaks Leadership Academy is entering its eighth year on Lafayette's campus with its purpose being to develop, challenge and support student-athletes and coaches in their quest to become effective leaders in academics, athletics and life. The Academy provides leadership development programming, including interactive workshops, 360-degree feedback, one-on-one coaching, peer mentoring, supplemental online training and educational resources.
At the close of each spring semester, the graduating seniors are honored and Leaders of Merit and Leaders of Distinction are announced. The Leaders of Merit for 2018 were softball's Samantha Sweigart and track and field's Alexa Kwapinski. The 2018 Leaders of Distinction were football's Brandon Bryant, field hockey's Cody Hunsicker, men's soccer's Christian Moyse, softball's Miranda Skurla, volleyball's Tori Smith and swimming's Nick Whiteman. These individuals were honored based on their scores during 360 evaluations by themselves, coaches and teammates.
