EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College volleyball team took its opener in the Lafayette Invitational on Friday night at
Kirby Sports Center, defeating Delaware State, 3-1.
The Leopards (3-7) were led by freshman
Grace Tulevech, who tallied a career-high 21 kills while hitting .372 to go along with nine digs and two service aces.
Also setting a career-high was junior
Adriana Heimbauer with 12 kills, hitting .375 with two service aces. Freshman
Leanna Deegan was the third in double-figures with 11 kills on the night.
Sophomore
Jenna Bailey matched a career-high with 30 assists while setting a career best with 17 digs. Classmate
Audrey Mangum was also strong defensively with a career-high 15 digs for the Maroon and White.
Freshman
Lauren Leontas played solid all-around, making her first career start and adding six blocks with three service aces.
Despite hitting .412 as a team in the opening set, Lafayette was outlasted by Delaware State (1-12), 29-27 to start the night. Lafayette was able to run off three-straight sets to claim the match.
Day two of the Lafayette Invitational is Saturday with the Leopards' first serve coming at 9 a.m. against Hartford and squaring off with Fairleigh Dickinson at 3 p.m.
