EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College men's soccer team played an overtime contest with Cornell on Friday night, but ultimately fell in the extra period, 2-1, at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium.
The Leopards (3-2) got off to a hot start when sophomore
Andrew Venezia had a corner kick opportunity and found junior
James Gibson who converted with the header in the 22
nd minute.
It was the fourth goal in three games for Gibson who leads the Maroon and White in the category. Â
That 1-0 advantage would last until the 82
nd minute when Charles Touche had the equalizer for Cornell (3-0) on a rocket to the back of the cage.
The Big Red would score the decider in overtime when John Scearce converted on an open net opportunity to end the game in the 95
th minute.
The Leopards will return to action on Wednesday when they play host to La Salle at Oaks Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
