Volleyball Falls to American

Sophomore Leanna Deegan led the way with 16 kills, Tulevech recorded 13

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College volleyball team dropped its sixth Patriot League match of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to American in four sets.

"We put ourselves in a good situation," head coach Ryan Adams said, "We battled and it was good to see us battle and pull of a set. We are in a good spot."

Lafayette (12-11 (1-6)) started off the first set with a five point run before American (12-7 (5-1)) got on the board. From there the Eagles would only take the lead twice in the set, tying the score three times but the Leopards were able to hold on for the 25-23 set one victory.

American came back to take the second set, 25-20, only giving up the lead once throughout the set, evening out the match 1-1. The Eagles would then cruise to a third set victory, 25-15 to get the 2-1 match advantage.

The Eagle went up 3-0 at the start of the fourth set before it would be sophomore Kelly Austin with a kill to get Lafayette on the board. American responded with a kill of their own and the set would see an exchange of points before the Eagles would push ahead off a five point scoring run.

The Leopards responded with a three point scoring run of their own but it would ultimately be another five point run by the Eagles that would push them ahead for the 25-23 set victory.
