Men's Lax Home Opener Brings NJIT to Fisher

Leopards eye first victory in Myers era Saturday

- Lafayette is eyeing its first victory of the 2019 campaign in the home opener on Saturday afternoon at Fisher Stadium, hosting NJIT in a 12 p.m. tilt.

- The Leopards dropped their season opener on the road at No. 12 Rutgers a week ago, falling by a respectable 14-8 margin. Sophomore Andrew Robbins was the Leopards' leading scorer in that contest with a three goals for the Maroon and White, while five other Lafayette players scored once to kick off their campaigns.

- Freshman Ryan Ness made his debut between the pipes for the Maroon and White at Rutgers, making 14 saves and allowing 14 goals in all 60 minutes of action. Ness was a First-Team All-State and All-NJAC selection following his senior season at Chatham High School in Chatham, New Jersey.

- A win on Saturday would mark the first head coaching victory in the short career of Lafayette head man Patrick Myers, who took over the Leopards' program this past summer. Prior to arriving on College Hill, Myers held assistant coaching roles at Penn, North Carolina, Bucknell, Cornell and Ohio State, his alma mater as of 2003.

- Next up for the Maroon and White is a road trip to Staten Island, New York on Friday afternoon, taking on Wagner at 4 p.m.
