Baseball Walks-Off Game Two to Take Bucknell Series

A commanding win in game one is followed by a thriller to give the Leopards a Saturday sweep

EASTON, Pa.  – The Lafayette baseball team captured a pair of Patriot League wins on Saturday, winning both contests of the doubleheader over Bucknell, 11-3 in game one, and by walk-off fashion in game two, 6-5 at Kamine Stadium.

In game one, sophomore JP Woodward was dominant, going the distance on the bump with eight strikeouts, four hits, three walks and just one earned run.

The Leopards (10-18, 5-4 PL) jumped out to an early lead, plating four runs in the first inning with the help of three Bucknell (9-23, 3-10 PL) errors.

Junior Trey Durrah was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run and classmate Jake Sniegocki also went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a double.

Senior Dan Leckie saw his eight-game hitting streak come to an end in game one, but came back with a vengeance in game two with one of Lafayette's three solo home runs in the game.

Senior Spencer Rouse combined to go 4-for-6 on the afternoon with two runs and classmate Richard Villa and sophomore Ethan Stern each went deep to cut into the early Bucknell lead in game two.

Sophomore Michael Dunn came out of the bullpen to toss four scoreless innings in 4.1 innings of work with one strikeout and just two hits.

Freshman Dylan Minghini opened the bottom of the seventh with a walk and came around to score to tie the game at five and sophomore Colin Hartey drove a sacrifice fly to left field to score Rouse in the bottom of the ninth.
The two teams return to action Sunday afternoon for the series finale at 1 p.m. at Kamine Stadium.
