EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette volleyball team claimed its third straight victory as it completed a three match sweep of Merrimack College, Friday night in
Kirby Sports Center.
Lafayette (4-5) wasted no time in taking control of the match, winning the first set in 18 minutes by a score of 25-13. They totaled 16 kills as a team, hitting .444. Sophomore
Leanna Deegan led the way individually for the Maroon and White with five kills in the first set alone, hitting .571.
Merrimack (1-4) came out strong in the second set, giving the Leopards a challenge. The Leopards jumped out to an 11-9 lead before the Warriors went on a three point scoring run to tie it up at 12. From there, the score would be tied four more times before the Leopards broke away and would earn the second set win by a close final of 25-22.
The Leopards would win set three by a 25-18 final, securing their third straight win and fourth on the season.

Katrina Ruggiero finished the night with 11 kills with freshman Ellie Carerra-Justiz finished with 10.
Lafayette will next compete on Saturday, for day two of the Lafayette Invitational. They are set to take on Delaware State at 12:30 p.m. and Siena at 5:30 p.m.
